Beginning and Ending class period:

·Come in and copy the Agenda in your planner, and begin class if there is not a lecture that day.

·Make sure all pencils are sharpened before class begins

·Collect supplies needed for the day’s activities (textbook, Dissection Equipment etc.)

·Return all supplies to proper location and begin cleaning duties as directed.

·Dismissal is not by the bell but by the teacher.

Bathroom:

  • Only one student at a time may use bathroom. 
  • You must have permission to leave the classroom and must take the bathroom pass.   
  • No one will be permitted to leave the classroom the first 15 minutes of class.
  • Individual bathroom passes may or may not be issued.

Turning in completed work:

·Completed assignments must be turned into the appropriate tray.

·Do not give papers to the teacher.

·Homework is due at the beginning of class or considered late.

·All work will be date stamped when turned in.

Seating arrangement

  • Seats will always be assigned.
  • Sitting on lab tables, countertops or desks is prohibited.

Binder  - Bring to class daily. Some Binder checks will be unannounced and count as a daily grade. There will be a six weeks Binder check that counts as a Lab Grade.

Safety – Sign and return safety contract.  Failure to comply with the safety guidelines will result in the removal from the classroom for the remainder of the class.

Quizzes- May be given at least 1-2 times weekly throughout the year.  They may or may not be announced.  They will cover previous material, labs, and homework, vocabulary and reading assignments.  Quizzes will count as ½ of a test grade.

Cheating – Will not be tolerated in any type.   Consequences – First time: Zero on assignment. Repeated offenses will result in a call home and a referral to the office.

Tardies – No entrance to class without a pass. We will follow Warren Tardy Policy.

Dress Code – Will be strictly enforced per NISD student handbook.

Electronics – No electronic music players, cell phones, pagers, video games, etc.  If these items are seen then they will be taken up and sent down to the office for your parents to pick up. NISD policy will be strictly enforced.

Food and Drinks- Not allowed.

Make up Daily Work - You can pick up your missed assignments in the folder designated for your class.  Your make-up work will be due the following day.  Be sure to label the assignment with the word “absent” along with the date you were absent and the date you turned in the work so it is not counted late.

Missed Tests/Retests and Labs - You MUST schedule a time to make up a test. Retest times will be posted.

Tutoring – Tutoring will be available.  The Science department’s tutoring schedule will be posted in the classroom and online.

Textbook- Will be available during class.
